Delta-8 FAQs
Information last updated 8/1/2021
1. What is delta-8-THC?
Delta 8-THC or Delta 8-Tetrahydrocannabinol is a hemp-derived cannabinoid that carries psychoactive effects. Additionally, when dosed properly, delta 8- THC is known for its anti-nausea, anti-anxiety, appetite-stimulating, and stress-reducing properties.
2. What are the differences between delta-8-THC and delta-9-THC?
Delta-9-THC is the most dominant cannabinoid found in medicinal/recreational cannabis. It has high psychoactivity and a number of medicinal uses. It can be purchased at medicinal or recreational dispensaries. Delta-9-THC is still federally illegal, and can only be obtained from state-licensed facilities by qualified patients or customers. Delta-8-THC is derived from hemp and shares many of the same medicinal qualities with delta-9-THC, as well as some additional benefits. Delta-8-THC is less psychoactive than delta-9 THC but will still produce a dose-dependent psychoactive effect. Delta-8-THC is federally legal and can be purchased almost anywhere (differing by state law). Finding a quality supplier is imperative to obtaining consistent effects.
3. Is delta-8-THC legal to produce in the USA?
Products that contain Delta 8-THC made from 100% Hemp extract are fully legal to manufacture, distribute, and sell to consumers in the United States. As a result of the 2018 Farm Bill, cannabis containing less than 0.3% delta 9-THC is legally hemp and legal for all intents and purposes under federal law.
4. How do I dose delta-8-THC products?
Only take delta-8-THC in a safe location when you do not need to drive or operate heavy machinery. Especially for lower body weight individuals, start with half of a dose. If the effects are too strong, decrease your next dose to ¼ the recommended serving. Not everyone attains an effect from delta-8-THC. Just because you are not feeling an effect does not mean you are missing out on any of the medicinal benefits
5. What happens if I take too much delta-8-THC?
Delta-8-THC can induce anxiety and unintended effects in individuals who have taken too much. Always do your best to remain calm as the effects are temporary. After ingesting an amount that was too large, note the amount and reduce your dose in subsequent use. If required, seek medical attention.
6. What is the difference between CBD and THC?
The main difference between CBD and THC is that CBD does not possess any psychoactive effects. All available forms of THC are psychoactive and will produce a dose-dependent effect. All of these cannabinoids have many medicinal uses, but CBD has the added benefit of all-day use due to its lack of psychoactivity.
